Mavericks Sweep

First off, my hat is off to Phil Jackson in being a classy guy and his respectful comments to the Dallas Mavericks.

Enough said for now... The Dallas Mavericks went out and took care of business. What they needed to do and did, took a whole team effort. Granted, the finish line is still far away and the trophy is still engraved with the Lakers' name on it, or it was until a little while ago. If the Mavericks can do what they did to the Lakers' in then next 2 series, barring any injuries, and stupid play resulting in suspensions, they will be the new NBA Champions.

New Concept to Run Our Government

I'm not one to get political but this hit me out of the clear blue and I just had to share it.

As I sat yesterday afternoon getting my hair cut, someone issued a statement about the NFL and whether or not there will be football this coming season. Not really paying attention to the conversation, it dawned on me, one of the reasons why the NFL is in a lock out. That being that the owners don't want to spend any money. Think about that for a second. We have NFL owners that don't want to spend any money, on one hand, and politicians on Capitol Hill that want to spend all the money they can. Try this on for size. Let's send all the NFL owners to Washington to run the Government with their money. There would be no president, just 32 Czars, pun intended.

What to do with the out of office politicians, good question? First off, no unemployment benefits. Put them in the work force and make them EARN their wages, like the rest of us. That might seem harsh but it's far better than the boat I'd put them on and send them to...

You may think this is an absurd idea. Maybe it is. The point I'm really trying to underline here is, that we as Americans need this kind of "out of the box" thinking to turn this dismal spin around. Businesses turn to their marketing departments to come up with new ideas to promote in order to get ahead of the competition. Isn't our government a business? Yes and no. It acts like a business but it is not run like a business. A real business, like NFL owners, is out to make money, not spend it. I could go on and on but I think you get my point.

Question to the Blog masses

If I want people to follow me on my blog, am I supposed to be the first one to sign up? What's the rule or is there any rule?

Changes in sound

Over the last 3 weeks, the normal sounds of our household has changed. With the death of our noisy Lab(the memoir to Lady still to come, sitting in the draft room)there has been a quietness that has brought a peaceful spirit with it. She was as you might say,"hot natured" and panted all the time. When she slept, most of the time she snored. When she gave herself a bath or drank out of the toilet it sounded like a misfiring Hoover vacuum cleaner. So most of the time she was making some sort of noise. The night she died, there was an eerie quiet unlike I've ever notice in my life. Humans may leave a mark on our life but pets leave a mark on our soul.

With the new quietness in our house, I've also heard a strange manly voice embark upon my ears. It makes me stop and wonder if we have company or not. That voice is the sound of my 15 year old, Jameson, going through puberty. Not only has he grown a foot in the last six months, he now can probably sing lower than me.

So long Startxchange

It saddens me that I'm going to have to quit surfing one of my favorite traffic exchanges.  Today, Tim over at Startxchange decided to up the surf timer from 10 seconds to 15 seconds.  First of all, I hate 15 or 20 second surf timers.  I prefer ones that are under 10 if I can find them.

Now I understand kind of why he did it but the timing without warning has me perplexed.  Mid-morning he just switched it over, plain as that.  No notice given.   To me, it's all about the principle of a way someone goes about doing something.  As soon as my credits are used up, that will be it for me.

I liked Startxchange for several reasons.  I could advertise 10 sites, 5 banners and 5 text links easily as a free member.  Occasionally, I would win 1000 credits or my favorite was the 24 hour platinum upgrade.

I'm actually kind of glad, though.  I found it be too addictive and monotonous.  The way it's setup is kind of a ladder tier system where you are competing with fellow members for a position.  I personally felt like a new prison inmate swatting others out of my rear end.  There is no letting up.  You get up to get a drink and someone passes you.  In order to keep your position for the day you have to surf anywhere around 2000 times a day, more if you want to move up.  If you like the competition, have at it.

Several times,  I thought about upgrading so I wouldn't have to surf so much but I never could talk myself into it.  Now my wife will be happy that I'm not surfing as much.  She's says, " You've been at that for 2 years now."  To tell you the truth, I'll just be surfing other sites.

Well, I enjoyed it, Tim.  I will miss some but others I cannot forget soon enough.

Books by Cathy Bryant

You! yes you!  Take a look to your right.  See the slide show?  Good.

Now I'm not much of reader but you'll enjoy these books.  Especially, if you are into fictional Christian romance with a Texas grass roots background.  If you're like me, you'll wish the characters were real so that you could meet them.

Get caught up and come join us as Miller's Creek followers are craving to get their hands on the 3rd installment.  Tell em Little Bo sent ya.

It's time to "Let's Go Racing"

I can hardly wait until the new season of NASCAR starts.  There's something about the start of new season, as with any other sport, and the stats starting at zero.  Of particular interest is the repaving of Daytona.  I, for one, got tired of looking at cars bounce all over the track like a roller coaster.  If I want that, I'll go to Six Flags.  If there's anything NASCAR fans want to see is speed and massive pile ups to soothe our sick sadistic minds.

I predict this will be the year that Jimmy Johnson loses the title.

Long live the Man In Black #3.  God rest your soul.

Snow Day

And I thought last year was bad with it snowing twice in one year...

It's nice to be off from work but only when the weather is nice and sunny.  This is ridiculous.  I live around Dallas, so for snow or ice to be on the ground more than a day is a little extreme.  That's not to mention, the temperature hasn't been above freezing since Monday 1/31/11 late night.  That night we had a little rain which turned into sleet in the early morning hours, Tuesday.  We didn't have as much as others to the west and north of Crandall, but it did warrant the wife and kids to be out of school on Tuesday and Groundhog Day.  Damn if he didn't have to see his shadow.
Last night, we had over 7" of snow.  It's pretty but outside of looking at it,  I really have no use for it.

Oh I know you Northerner's are saying for me to quit my bitching.  Same as I say to ya'll, when you have an unexpected heat waive in the summer.  The simple truth is we are not accustomed to extremes outside of what we are normally used to.

The simple side of it all is that it's Jerry's fault.  If we were't having a Super Bowl here, the weather would be fine and dandy.  It's just God's way of saying to Jerry, that he can't control everything, let alone the weather.

Introduction

I always wanted to be a journalist but for one reason or another, couldn't pass some silly, stupid typing test, in order to be one.  Besides, if I had, I'd have probably axed a few liberal journalists along the way.  LOL.  So, thanks to the Internet, I now have my chance.

Let me start by saying, I will not apologize for my opinions, misspellings, bad grammar, rants, occasional foul language, or in some cases, my stupidity.
You read this, you take it for what it's worth.  If I offend you, then kindly leave.
If you enjoy it, then please feel free to pass it along to friends, or if you notice at the bottom, you can can share it on Facebook and Twitter.

I've been online, marketing for a little over two years.  I've always shied away from blogging, with the mindset that it just wasn't for me.  Other marketers have encouraged it, but the reason I decided to do it was for myself and not anyone else.
Actually, it's because I finally sat down and took the time to set one up.  With me, sometimes learning is a slow process, but when I "get it," watch out.  Now all I have to do is stir up the "grey matter" in my head and put it on here.  What you will find here is collection of different subjects ranging from pets, to sports, to family, to vegetable gardening, to you name it.  What you will not find much of is topics of politics or religion, as they are much too debatable to go into in much detail.

I hope that what you find here will be both helpful and at times amusing.  I can't promise to post everyday but if you want to be notified of when I do, please tell me and I will add your email to the list.  At the bottom of the page, you will find a link called Gumby's Tidbits.  It is another blog that I have that strictly deals with computers and internet marketing tips.
